Textbook Return Policy

See the bookstore schedule for  the last day to return books (purchased in the current semester) with a receipt for a full refund.

  • Books must be in saleable condition. New textbooks must be in new condition. This means no marks, writing, highlighting, bent corners, etc.

  • No returns or exchanges will be allowed without the sales receipt and the charge card receipt if it is a charge transaction.

  • Refunds cannot be issued on opened, poly-wrapped books that say NOT RETURNABLE IF OPENED.

  • Refunds are only issued for books purchased during the current semester at the UW-WC bookstore.

  • When returning books for a dropped class, you must provide a drop slip (printed from your PRISM account).  Returns for dropped classes must be within the scheduled return period as listed on the bookstore schedule.

Book Exchanges

  • Exchanges are only available during the first two weeks of the semester. Please check your books over as soon as you purchase them for missing pages, etc.

Book Buy Back

  • Book Buyback is held on campus once each semester - during finals week.

  • If the department plans to use the textbook again, we will buy it back at 1/2 the retail price, until we meet our limit. If the book is not being used on campus the following semester, we will purchase the book for a wholesale used book company at approximately 10%-30% of retail price - based on the current market demand for that textbook.

  • Times and locations for Book Buyback will be posted on this website and campus monitors.

  • You can also sell your books online now.

Online Textbook Orders

If your textbooks are not available in the UW-WC bookstore, check with the bookstore manager about online purchase options.

The above policies are subject to change.
