The S.T.E.M. club, formerly known as Science & Math Club, was established in fall 2000. It encourages students’ active participation and leadership role in all S.T.E.M. fields and disciplines, including Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Geography, Geology, Mathematics, Nursing, Physics, Astronomy, Medicine, and Pharmacy.
The club welcomes everyone and charges no admission.

The main goals of the Science and Math Club are to:
- Facilitate and enhance students’ understanding of S.T.E.M.
- Promote students’ active involvement and participation in co-curricular S.T.E.M.-based activities
- Attract, recruit and retain more students in the S.T.E.M. fields
- Help form a S.T.E.M. community on campus
- Strengthen the links among the S.T.E.M. departments
- Build relationships with the local and regional industry and research institutions
- Assist in improving the teaching and learning of S.T.E.M. on campus
Internship Program: Student paid internship programs between UW-WC Chemistry Department and several area companies have been established. Firms include: Cedarburg Pharmaceuticals, Chem-Tech International in Random Lake and Serigraph, Inc. (Research & Development) in West Bend. Additional collaborative projects are being developed with the local industry as well as area public schools.

National Chemistry Week (October 17-21, 2011) Activities
Theme: "Chemistry: Our Health, Our Future"
More than 30 students are participating in this year’s National Chemistry Week (NCW) activities at the University of Wisconsin-Washington County, October 17-21, 2011. These activities are part of the International Year of Chemistry (2011). The theme of this year’s NCW is “Chemistry: Our Health, Our Future” and students are researching and presenting different chemical topics related to “Health and Wellness” with a science poster display addressing the following topics: iron, potassium, sodium, iodine, chlorine, sulfur, fluorine, magnesium, nitrogen, calcium, clove, cinnamon, pepper, water, vitamins, various types of medicine, etc. The poster display will be at the Collins Science Building near room 228. A book display on this year’s theme is presented at the campus library.
