Winterim Classes

October 16, 2006

Winterim Session planned at UW-WC
Earn 3 credits in 3 weeks over winter break

For the first time in campus history, UW-Washington County will be offering a Winterim session in January.  Classes meet four times a week for three weeks, beginning January 2 and ending January 19, 2007.  The extra classes allow current students to lighten their course load for spring or pick up a class they missed. New students can get a jump start on college.  The three-week format also works well for non-traditional aged students who would like to enrich their mind or life but don’t want to commit to a 16-week format. Four courses are being offered including:

1.       Medical Anthropology (ANT 350) 8am-11:45am  Includes the interrelationships between ecology, culture, society, disease and medicine from the beginning of humankind to the present. (Instructor:  Dr. Chris Hays)

2.       Public Speaking (COM 103) 1pm-4:45pm  Study of the principles and techniques of effective speaking and listening in a variety of selected communication experiences. (Instructor: Bonnie Huebner)

3.       Business Ethics (PHI 243) 8am-11:45am  Critical discussion of ethical reasoning and moral values in business and industry; includes case studies and readings. (Instructor: Dr. Rich Edwards)

4.       State & Local Politics (POL 225) 1pm-4:45pm  Organization, structure and functions of state and local governments in general, while using Wisconsin as a prime example. (Instructor: Margaret Curran)

Current students can register online at www.washington.uwc.edu. New students should call an advisor in Student Services at 262-335-5201.

The best start for the life you want.
