Youth
invited to sign up for Theatre Program
Vaudeville show being planned
The Youth Theatre program at UW-Washington County is
now accepting registrations from area youth, ages 10 to 17.
Instruction includes all aspects of bringing a play
to stage. Youth are needed for all positions, including directors,
producers, set makers, costumers, techies, actors, and marketers.
This year’s show is titled,
“The World of Vaudeville” and will consist of eight to ten old
vaudeville skits. Theatre students will meet on Saturdays from noon
to 1:30pm from January 13 through
May 12, with performances in UW-Washington County’s theatre on April
27, 28 and 29.
The primary instructor is John Sancomb, President of Musical
Masquers. Sancomb will utilize guest instructors throughout the
program, based on the area of theatre being reviewed. Subject areas
include set design, set construction, stage blocking, lighting,
makeup, acting techniques, directing and marketing/promotion. No
auditions are required. The complete semester fee is $139.
This successful hands-on theatre program is in its second year. Last
year’s participants produced three Dr. Seuss productions including
The Cat in the Hat, Sneetches and The Lorax. Classes
will be held at UW-Washington County, 400 University Drive in West
Bend. To register, phone Dan Anhalt at 262-335-5218 or email (dan.anhalt@uwc.edu).
