Student Services Advisor
Position Description:
The Student Services Advisor is a 60%, 12 month academic staff
position reporting to the Assistant Campus Dean for Student
Services. This individual is responsible for development and
day-to-day supervision of the campus’ newly established Learning
Center, advising services for students including at-risk admits and
students with disabilities, and ongoing coordination of the
college’s faculty/staff advising program.
Responsibilities:
Advising (40%)
A.
Provide advising support
to students through individual meetings, small group session, and
development of individual learning plans to link advising services
to academic support services.
B.
Provide advising support
to students with learning and physical disabilities and coordinate
accommodations for these students in consultation with the
UW-Colleges’ Coordinator for Students with Disabilities.
C.
Develop summer bridge
programming for at-risk admits to prepare them for successful
transition to college.
2. Coordination of Learning
Center (30%)
A.
Develop and implement
services within the campus’ newly established Learning Center, in
conjunction with the Campus Dean, Assistant Campus Dean for Student
Services, and selected faculty and staff.
B.
Develop service plan for
providing student with academic support in writing, math, selected
content areas, and study skills
C.
Schedule and present
workshops to support student learning, including the campus’ Student
Development Series
D.
Hire, train, schedule, and
supervise student staff for the Learning Center
E.
Maintain data on services
provided, and conduct on-going assessment of services
F.
Act as liaison with
faculty and staff to coordinate academic support services, including
connections with the campus’ existing LEA 102 and LEC 100 classes
3. Coordination of
Faculty/Staff Advising Program (15%)
A.
Maintain current advising
materials for faculty and staff advisors
B.
Organize and present
training including annual updates for faculty and staff advisors
C.
Assign advisees to faculty
and staff advisors
D.
Provide support to faculty
and staff advisors as needed
4. Coordination of
Orientation Programming (15%)
A.
Participate in Campus
Previews, Advising and Orientation Programs and Registration
sessions
B.
Train and schedule Student
Ambassadors to support Previews and Orientation, Advising and
Registration sessions
Participate in Student Services
activities
Qualifications: Master’s degree in
Student Personnel or Counseling and previous experience with
advising or learning support is highly recommended. Bachelor’s
degree is required.
Salary: (60% of) $35,695
