Moraine Youth Choir--MY Choir Summer Camp!!

Summer 2013 Dates, July 29-Aug.2

Discover and explore the powerful rhythms, moving melodies, and stunning harmonies of world music. MY
Choir will focus on discovering melody and rhythm through playing (flutophone and drums) and singing, as
well as on developing group choral skills together. MY Choir will further develop group choral skills and vocal technique as we discover melody, rhythm, and harmony in music of many styles from around the world. Visit the MY Choir website here!

M.Y.Choir (ages 8-15) requires no audition. This group focuses on discovering melody and rhythm through playing(flutophone) and singing, as well as on developing group choral skills. Each child receives his/her own flutophone.

Barbershoppers (ages 10-15) are selected by audition. Focusing on 3- and 4-part harmony, they further develop group choral skills and vocal technique, discovering melody, rhythm, harmony and languages in the music of many different styles and places.

SUMMER CAMPS AT NORTHER OZAUKEE SCHOOL DISTRICT

Calling all Scientists in 5th-8th grade!

 

CSI, Team Northern Ozaukee

This intriguing and exciting course combines science learning with fun. Participants will use real laboratory techniques and materials, create theories about the “crime,” and test their hypotheses like scientists. They will experience science in an authentic hands-on environment that explains the use of evidence, models, tools, and techniques in science inquiry. Students will analyze hair and pollen samples, investigate fiber samples, study blood types, and learn about DNA profiling.

In the culminating activity, students analyze their findings and using deductive reasoning, point their fingers at the guilty party. Applying real laboratory techniques, students form teams to analyze race evidence, unknown substances, handwriting, fingerprints, and even shoeprints left at the crime scene. A fun and exciting class that is sure to spar your child’s interest in science! Grades 5-8, limited enrollment

Amazing Robotics Challenge

Join us for this fun and intense four day robotics program. You will build a mobile robot using interchangeable parts, fully programmable by a personal computer.

Flashing lights, moving motors, wheels, levers and arms at your command. Innovation and creativity are required. Styling and originality are rewarded. You will learn about electronics, physics, computer programming and apply what you learn in math class to build a robot.

Students will build the robots in teams of two. Invite a friend or you will be paired with another participant.Grades: 4-9, limited enrollment

Dates: July 15- July 18

Time: 12Noon- 5:00PM

Instructor: John Papenheim, WTCS Certified electronics and robotics instructor

Act Exam Preparation

This three-session course is designed to assist the high school student in preparing for the ACT assessment exam and is just in time for the upcoming testing dates.  Topics covered include test-taking strategies, English, writing, Math, and Science.  Students will have an opportunity to take a practice exam, and receive the completed test along with detailed results in time to brush up on the specific areas of weakness identified on the practice exam, before taking the ACT exam.  Topics covered will include both content and test taking strategies.  All participants will receive a 532 page study guide.  Saturday lunch is provided.  This course is currently offered at Hartford Union High School.

Washington County Youth Orchestra

Join us in playing the standard concert repertoire, such as Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, and Wagner, along with the not-so-standard, such as Video Games Live. Our concert in early May is open to the community.

We also play at the UW-WC commencement in mid-May. We have several talented section coaches to lead our monthly sectional rehearsals. Middle and high school musicians are welcome to audition. Contact Cherie Hart at cherie.hart@uwc.edu to schedule an audition or get more information.
