Ballroom Dancing:
There are many reasons to take a ballroom dance
class: it is great exercise, you get to listen to great music and
socialize with great people, and you even improve your posture and
grace. Perhaps the best reason, though, is to simply experience the
“magic” of ballroom dancing—when pixie dust floats down from the
ceiling and you suddenly feel yourself floating across the dance
floor. Of course to get to that point, you need to learn a few
things first. That is where this course comes in. Each month I
teach just one dance so you can master some of its Beginner- and
Intermediate-level patterns; I also supply a sprinkling of
stylistics to help you smooth out your dancing. (The pixie dust
usually arrives towards the end of the third lesson.)
Instructor:
Michael Mattek is a faculty member of the UW-Colleges English
Department, and faculty advisor/instructor for the student ballroom
dance club at UWWC. He has over a decade of experience teaching
ballroom and swing dancing in the Milwaukee, Janesville, and West
Bend areas.
