Applications:
Scholarship applications for new Freshman students for the 2009/10
academic should be submitted after January 1, 2009. You can
pick up an application from the Student Services office or
download the application and recommendation letter form (requires Adobe Acrobat).
Only one application
is needed and you will be considered for all scholarships for
which you are eligible.
The essay
questions must be typed and you will need to include a current high
school transcript along with ACT scores. Assemble four packets for
the Scholarship committee to review. Each packet should include: completed application,
typed essay portion, high school Transcript and ACT scores). Drop

Application Deadline: The deadline for New Freshman Scholarship Applications
for the 2009/2010 academic year was
Friday, March 20, 2009.
Eligibility:
To be eligible to receive any of
these scholarships, you must have applied for admission at
UW-Washington County and have a complete application filed by April
1. To receive a UW-WC scholarship, you must attend the
UW-Washington County campus. For
each scholarship, half of the amount is awarded in fall and the
remaining half is awarded in the spring. Eligibility requirements and
application guidelines must be met each semester of the
award.
All scholarship recipients are expected to attend a formal
scholarship ceremony in September. Parents are also welcome to
attend this event. This is an important event that recognizes
student achievement and allows donors, students and faculty to meet.
Important Note: All scholarships awards and
amounts are subject to change, based on current funding.
Thomas Berenz Scholarships
$500 (Two awards)
- must be entering college for the first time
- must be a graduate of Hartford Union High School
Broan-NuTone Scholarship
$1,500 (Three awards)
- must be a senior at Hartford High School and entering
UW-WC for the first time
- must graduate in the top quarter of the high school
graduating class
- $750 awarded in Fall; renewal in spring requires
a 3.0 minimum GPA fall semester
- Selection Criteria:
- academic performance (40% weight)
- leadership activities (20% weight)
- completion/presentation of an application
for the scholarship (20% weight)
- Requires an additional essay on the importance of the Free Enterprise
System (20% weight)
Mr. & Mrs. James R. Brown Scholarship
$750 ($375 per semester)
- must be entering college for the first time
- must be enrolled as a full-time student (12 or
more credits) per semester and maintain a 3.0 GPA for renewal
- must pursue a major in the Fine Arts
- must be in the top 50% of high school graduating class and
provide a letter of recommendation by a teacher in the visual
arts, theatre or music.
Joseph & Rose Butschlick Memorial Scholarship
$500 ($250 per semester)

must be a graduate of Kewaskum High School, entering
college for first time

must graduate in top 25% of high school graduating
class

must participate in extra curricular activities at
the high school level

preference given to those with financial need
Elmore & Alyce Kraemer New Freshmen Scholarships
(Four awards @ $850)
- must be entering college for the first time
- will be enrolled as a full-time student (12 or
more credits) at UW-WC for at least one year
- rank in the top 25% of high school graduating
class
Linda Lindquist New Beginnings Scholarship
$500
Awarded to a new or returning UW-WC student
- must enroll in at least six credits per semester
and maintain a 2.00 GPA for renewal
- preference given to applicants who are
currently working on overcoming adversity, or have
overcome adversity, in their personal or professional lives
- requires a statement from the applicant
or from Student Services explaining the circumstances of how the
applicant is overcoming adversity or has overcome adversity
(such remarks will be held in confidence)
- first priority given to applicants over the age
of 23
Reuben Schmahl Scholarship
$ 400 (Two awards)
- preference given to high school graduates who
reside in Washington County
Washington County Campus Foundation Scholarships
(Three awards @ $1,000 each)
- must be entering college for the first time
- rank in the top 25% of high school graduating
class
- be a graduate (or planning to graduate) from a
high school in Washington County, Wisconsin
West Bend Education Association Scholarship
$ 500 (Two awards)
- must have attended a West Bend public school
- preference given to non-traditional aged students
who demonstrate financial need
- Requires an additional essay
or statement explaining your
financial circumstances
West Bend Mutual Insurance Company
$ 1,000 (Two awards)
- must be enrolled as a full-time student (12 or
more credits)
- must rank in the top 25% of high school graduating
class
- must pursue a major in Business, Economics,
Finance or Computer Science
West Bend Noon Rotary Scholarship
$ 1,500
- must be a graduate of West Bend East or West Bend
West high schools
- must rank in the top 25% of high school graduating
class
West Bend Savings Bank Scholarship
$600
- must be a senior at a Washington County high school
and entering UW-WC for the first time
- minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
Ziegler Company Scholarships
Amount is half of one year's (2 semesters) tuition in the freshman
year and full tuition for sophomore year* (2 semesters) (Two awards)
- must be in top 25% of high school graduating class
and entering UW-WC for the first time
- must attend UW-WC full time
- preference for one award will be given to a child
of a Ziegler Company employee
- *recipients who maintain a 3.0 cumulative
grade point average and maintain full time status at UW-WC will
receive a second year Ziegler Company Scholarship of one year's
tuition (2 semesters) to
be used at UW-WC for their sophomore year.
