Placement Testing

The University of Wisconsin requires that all students show a government-issued photo identification document, such as driver's license, state-issued ID, passport or a high school picture student ID if it includes a signature when they arrive to take placement tests. Students will not be allowed to test without providing an appropriate photo ID.

New Freshmen Students
Placement Tests are required of all UW-WC freshman students who plan to take English and Mathematics classes. The results are used to determine the appropriate English and Mathematics courses in which to enroll. We also offer optional placement testing in Spanish, French and German (more information below). Tests from other colleges and universities outside the UW System DO NOT replace these Placement tests.
Transfer, Re-Entry & Special Students
English and/or Math placement tests may be required. Phone Student Services (262)-335-5201 to schedule an appointment with an advisor.  Information regarding placement testing and registration will be mailed, after you have been admitted.

Non UW-WC Students
You must be an admitted UW-WC student to take Placement tests at our campus. Only Regional Placement tests are available for non UW-WC students. Registration for these tests begins February 1st. Learn more.

Depending on your placement, you may be eligible to earn retroactive college credits. We encourage you to consult with your transfer campus for the foreign language requirements to ensure you meet admission and/or graduation requirements on that campus.
