Associate Degree applications are due April 1 (spring semester) or November 1
(fall semester). Application forms are available from Student Services or you can download the forms below (This requires Adobe Acrobat and you will need to print the form and then complete).

Associate of Arts & Science Degree

UW-Washington County can provide the best start on an Associate degree, a Bachelor's degree and unlimited career opportunities. With our small classes and experienced faculty, you will acquire an excellent foundation. With an Associate degree, you can transfer to a UW baccalaureate campus or to a private college to earn a Bachelor's degree in a specific field of interest.

Associate Degree Benefits:

Foundation for over 200 majors in the UW System.
Fulfills minimum university-wide general education requirements at UW institutions, with the exception of UW-Stout.
Allows you to satisfy your general education requirements, allowing you to concentrate on your major in your junior and senior years.
Saves you time and tuition costs, if you know your future plans.
Helps you develop the skills needed to succeed in your university education and in life.

The degree may not fulfill certain proficiency, major, and/or program specific requirements. Your academic advisor in Student Services can explain how to include program pre-requisites (such as courses required for entrance into degree programs in education, business, social work, etc.) into the Associate degree so that you make progress toward your specific major and degree requirements.

You can now earn your UW Colleges Associate degree totally online over the Internet from the convenience of your home or office. Or earn some of your UW Colleges Associate degree credits online while taking other courses in traditional classrooms. Info on online courses.

Degree Requirements:

A minimum of 60 credits is required.
The UW Colleges General Education Requirements must be fulfilled.
At least 24 credits of the 60 credits must be completed within the UW Colleges, or at least 12 of the last 24 credits, must be earned within the UW Colleges.
A student must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 earned at the UW Colleges and 2.0 overall GPA in credits applied to the Associate of Arts and Science Degree.
Students must be enrolled at a UW College during the semester in which the degree requirements are completed or have earned 60 degree credits prior to transferring from a UW College to a baccalaureate degree granting institution.

Writing: English 102 Mathematics: Math 108 or 110
The writing and mathematics requirements and their prerequisites may not be used to satisfy a breadth requirement when used to satisfy a core requirement.

a. Fine Arts & Humanities:
Minimum of 9 credits
At least 1 course must be in Fine Arts and 1 course in Humanities.

b. Mathematical & Natural Sciences:
Minimum of 11 credits
A minimum of 8 of these credits must be in at least two disciplines of the Natural Sciences and must include one laboratory science course.

c. Social Science:
Minimum of 9 credits
These courses must be selected from at least two disciplines.

d. Application & Performance:
Minimum of 3 credits

e. Ethnic Studies:
Minimum of 3 credits
Ethnic Studies courses may also be counted toward another breadth category.

f. Interdisciplinary Studies:
Minimum of 3 credits
Interdisciplinary Studies courses may also be counted toward another breadth category.

A student who has met the core requirements and the other breadth category minimums may complete the 60 credit minimum requirement with courses in this category.
