About
I started teaching at UW-WC
in the fall semester 2000, with a previous broad teaching
experience at Wayne State University, Columbus State
University and Hillsdale College. I am a strong advocate of
the integration of Science. When teaching chemistry, I show
the connections and relationships with other scientific
fields and daily life. I consider interdisciplinary
co-curricula activities an important component of chemistry
education, and highly encourage my students to be active
participants.
My research interests are focused on the application of
modern computational chemistry techniques in teaching;
developing digital learning objects in chemistry; imaging
individual DNA for biophysical applications; ab initio
theory of molecular structure and interactions; laser
spectroscopy and molecular photophysics of excited states;
synthesis and spectroscopic identification of organic
compounds, catalysis in miceller phase as well as green
chemistry.
I am the faculty advisor of the campus
Science & Math Club
(2000-Present). I enjoy reading, walking and spending
quality time with my family.
